Converse x Martine Ali: taking the dna of the iconic Chuck Taylor All Star to the next level

Jewelry designer Martine Ali presents the first version of the new Chuck 70 De Luxe Wedge, through a proposal that is unlike any other Converse silhouette.

With an aesthetic defined by sleek, modular and utilitarian pieces that evoke the hip-hop and alternative energy of the '90s and early 2000s, Martine Ali has become the creative accessories brand of our time. With this approach, Ali is enlisted as Converse's first creative partner to execute her own vision for the new Chuck 70 De Luxe Wedge.

As the latest addition to the De Luxe family, the Chuck 70 De Luxe Wedge offers a radically sculpted angular midsole as the centerpiece. Powered by an EVA foam midsole, the silhouette provides nearly ten centimeters of lift and features an asymmetrical square toe. Through its angular construction, this new offering represents a new form of style and expression, totally unlike any other Converse silhouette.

Synonymous with New York style, the silhouette is presented for the first time in all-black, featuring a leather upper with a tonal Chuck patch, midsole, lace and toe cap. Five stud closures punctuate the upper with Martine Ali's signature metallic finishes and contrast stitching.

Using wellies as inspiration, Ali's work manifests itself by delivering two distinct styles: with and without gaiters. Designed to be adjustable, breathable yet durable, the gaiter includes long zippers and waxed laces for unrestricted style.

The Chuck 70 De Luxe Wedge is the latest example of Converse repurposing its DNA as a platform to take style, comfort, form and function to the next level. As Converse builds for the future, it continues to open up opportunities for creative expression for those like Martine Ali who are shaping culture.
